Who should be the SNAP Administrator?

The SNAP Administrator is the person in your school or district who knows the Admin password for SNAP. The Admin password allows access to all areas of the program including all medical records and administrative functions like setting up new user accounts and running the Promote and Transfer process at the end of the year.
The person assigned as the SNAP Administrator typically depends on the type of SNAP system you use. If you have a standalone system, we recommend that the full time school nurse be assigned this position. If you have a networked system, we recommend that the district's nurse leader be the SNAP Administrator. We strongly advise against assigning the administrator position to the school or district computer technician because of the potential legal issues surrounding a non-medical person having access to student medical files.
