October, 2009 - All state immunizations setups updated

PSNI nurses have working hard to create update immunization compliance tables for each state for the 2009-2010 school year. Many states have been updated since the initial setups were posted this past summer after clarifications were made by state Immunization programs, especially in states where laws have changed.

In addition, as of 10/2/09, ALL immunization setups for 2009-2010 have been updated with the addition of several new vaccine names in ALL states in the newly updated Version 4.1.9 of SNAP Health Center.
These immunizations are:
    HIB: PRP-T (Hiberix only)
    Influenza: H1N1-09 (injectable)
    Influenza: H1N1-09 H1N1 (live nasal)
    Influenza: H1N1-09 H1N1- unknown type

For this reason, we recommend school nurses periodically re-import their state immunizations to make sure there have not been changes since your last update. Doing so will not harm your program in any way. In fact, if your setup is up to date, SNAP will tell you during the import and you can cancel it. We suggest putting a recurring appointment on your scheduler to remind yourself to re-import on a scheduled basis.

The latest immunization setups are only available for version 4.1.9 of SNAP has new calculation and reporting features for immunizations, including increasing age of student when calculating compliance.

Please import/re-import your state's setup as soon as possible to get these changes.
Please make sure you read the readme filewhen you import as well. There are instructions on how to use the new report features.

To import: Go to Library | Immunizations | Import setup | PSNI website

Select your state from the drop down and click Next
If there are multiple setups available for your state, they will be listed below. Choose the setup that is applies to your school or district and click Next.
If you have the latest requirements you will get a message indicating so. This means you have the latest available setup for your state and you should try back later. If not, the import agreement screen will appear and the import will begin.

A few notes regarding the setups:

Notes regarding advanced compliance calculations:
• If your state has rules for newly enrolled students regardless of grade, please make sure your student records have enrollment dates in the student tab of the SNAP health record.
• If your state has vaccine requirements for students enrolling into a school within your state for the first time, they should also have a state enrollment date in the immunization tab of the SNAP health record.

Many states have updated their immunization laws for the
2009-2010 school year.

If you have received notification from your state's immunization program that there will be changes in the new year please let us know. The sooner we get the information, the sooner your new setup can be available.

Please Note: In order for our setups to be valid, any documentation of regulations we use must indicate that they are directly from your state's agency that governs school immunization regulations, i.e. Department of Public Health, Immunization Program, etc...
